New Designs coming for Season 5!

Behind the imposing stone walls of Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, lies a history of isolation, punishment, and some of the most controversial ideas in American prison reform.

Opened in 1829, Eastern State was designed around a radical concept: prisoners would live in solitary confinement, separated from one another in the hope that isolation would lead to reflection and rehabilitation. Instead, the system became notorious for its psychological toll. The prison eventually housed infamous inmates, including gangster Al Capone, before closing in 1971.

Today, its crumbling cellblocks and eerie corridors have made Eastern State one of America's most famous supposedly haunted historic sites. Visitors and paranormal investigators have reported strange sounds, shadowy figures, and unexplained encounters within its abandoned-looking halls.

What really happened behind these prison walls, and what might still linger there? Explore the dark history and haunting legends of Eastern State Penitentiary.
